Fair point. If you’re doing 5,000 caps for a local craft brewer and you don’t need strict brand consistency, maybe a budget press is fine. But here’s the catch: most people can’t predict when they’ll scale. I’ve seen startups move from 5,000 to 50,000 units within six months. The press that was “good enough” now bottlenecks production. Parts break, downtime rises, and you end up buying a new machine anyway.

Also, beer bottles and caps sold in retail face stricter regulatory scrutiny (FDA, BRC). A quality failure at volume can blow up your brand — and the recall costs dwarf any savings from the initial machine.
